Heilbronn Tour May 2024

March 2024 Dear Parent/Carer,

MUSIC CENTRE VISIT TO HEILBRONN, 24 – 30 MAY 2024

As you may be aware, we have been planning a visit to Heilbronn (Stockport’s German twin town) in 2024. The final cost is dependent upon numbers travelling but we expect it to be no more than £650. We are currently looking at ways to raise money towards reducing the cost, so if we can reduce this figure further then we will do.

The travel company require a £100 non-refundable deposit per pupil, therefore we are asking for a £100 deposit to be returned to the Music Service. Payment can be taken over the phone or by cheque payable to Stockport Council. Final payments won’t be until February 2024, so we can do monthly payments of £55 if that helps with your planning and budgeting, and if you are wishing to go but cannot provide the full £100 deposit, we can look at spreading this cost slightly.

We want as many pupils as possible to be given the opportunity to travel on this educational visit so the trip is open to any member of our music centre groups, including Stockport Schools Brass Bands and Stockport Youth Orchestra, who will be in year 6 or above when we travel. Once we know what instruments and voices are coming, we will then select appropriate music and arrange our tour group/band(s).

We are to stay at Jugendherberge Schwäbisch Hall in multi bedded, en-suite rooms and we will be giving three concerts; a joint opening concert with Heilbronn Music School, an openair festival, and a final one yet to be confirmed. The excursions are likely to be the Salt Mines at Bad Friedrichshall, a swimming pool/water park and possibly a castle! We will travel by coach with a Dover-Calais ferry crossing.

If you would like your son/daughter to attend then please complete the Google form at this link: https://forms.gle/2PJ1Y6BV8y2TVdmn9. We will then contact you to take a non-refundable deposit payment. Assuming we have sufficient numbers, we will then confirm the visit with the tour company and set up payment plans for parents.
