Singing In Schools

Everybody has a voice and we encourage every child to find their own unique voice and develop their confidence when singing. By beginning early and developing the "inner ear", our young musicians have a foundation for all their musical learning to come.

Enjoyment of singing comes first but we believe that pupils can also produce high quality music in this environment so we have a structures support programme for schools to engage with from nursery and early years right through to sixth form. We offer high quality opportunities for children and young people to enjoy their singing, we support teachers to improve their confidence in leading singing and we encourage all schools to put singing at the heart of their daily life.

Stockport Music Service can offer the following support to schools:

The Singing Schools programme, to develop teacher confidence in delivering singing in the classroom

  • Support to set up a new choir or singing club, or help for a new singing leader

  • A vocal audit in school to assess singing

  • Borough wide or school specific CPD training

  • Performance opportunities

  • Workshops in school to enhance whole school or year group

  • Choral projects between cluster groups

  • Access to Music Library and repertoire suggestions
