rock school

Rockschool Junior:

This band is for children who have begun learning their instrument with a teacher and want to try playing in a band. We learn band skills, songs and perform in a gig at the end of each term. Children must be confident playing to a beat and singing on their own (if they are a singer). Drummers should be able to play grooves in 4/4 time. Bass players need to be able to play root notes of A, E, D, G and C. Guitarists and keyboard players need to be able to play and change between the following chords:

A major, A minor, D major, D minor, E major, E minor, G major, C major

We have limited spaces for most instruments to allow all the children to have a fair chance at playing so please email sophie.sully@stockport.gov.uk to see if we have space for your child and if they are the right standard before applying on SpeedAdmin.

Rockschool Intermediate:

This band is for children who are playing around Grade 2-3 level on their instrument (you can ask their teacher of their approximate level if you are unsure) and can play and learn songs mostly independently with some help from the group tutors. It is useful if children already have some band or group experience and we limit places to one instrument per band (except for guitars) so that they children get the most playing time and experience. We perform a gig at the end of each term and students are encouraged to suggest songs that they would like to learn in their band.

Dates are usually confirmed by the end of April and information will be sent out then.
