Electric Strings

Sometimes we have preconceived ideas about what instruments are used for certain styles of music and how those instruments are played. For orchestral string players in particular, this can be especially true, with many people assuming that violins, violas, cellos and double basses are only used in orchestral concerts, film scores or slushy pop ballads.

If you play any of those instruments and want to challenge that convention a little, come along to the Electric String group, where you can play music from a variety of styles and also experiment with effects pedals, looping machines, recording equipment and other music technology to create new and exciting versions of your favourite songs and music.

The electric string group meets on a Wednesday from 5.45 - 6.45pm and welcomes all string players and percussionists from about Grade 4 upwards.
