Stockport Music Service - Music Centres – Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all pupils attending Stockport Music Service - Music Centres, ensembles, rehearsals, lessons and performances. By enrolling a child in a Music Centre activity, the parent or carer agrees to the following terms.

1. Attendance and Supervision

1.1 Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring that their child arrives safely at all scheduled lessons, rehearsals, performances and other Music Service activities.

1.2 Parents and carers are also responsible for making appropriate arrangements for their child's safe journey home following each activity.

1.3 Where a child has permission to leave independently, parents or carers must notify the Music Centre organiser in advance.

1.4 Similar arrangements are the responsibility of the parent or carer for concerts, performances, workshops and any other Music Service events.

2. Additional Activities

2.1 Where activities take place outside the usual Music Centre timetable or involve travel, additional costs or extended hours, specific parental consent will be obtained in advance.

2.2 Participation in such activities is subject to receipt of the appropriate consent where required.

3. Health, Welfare and Medical Information

3.1 Stockport Music Service will take all reasonable care to safeguard the welfare of children and young people attending its activities.

3.2 In the event of an accident or medical emergency where immediate treatment is required and it is not reasonably possible to contact a parent or carer, the Service is authorised to obtain appropriate medical assistance on the child's behalf.

3.3 Parents and carers must inform Stockport Music Service of any medical condition, allergy, additional need or physical disability that may affect their child's participation, and must notify the Service promptly of any changes.

4. Insurance

4.1 Pupils attending Music Service activities are covered by the Local Authority's Public Liability Insurance in respect of claims arising from negligence by the Authority, its employees or contractors, or from defects in the premises or equipment used.

4.2 This insurance does not provide personal accident cover for participants. Parents and carers are responsible for arranging any personal accident insurance they consider appropriate.

5. Behaviour and Conduct

5.1 All pupils are expected to behave in a respectful, safe and considerate manner at all times.

5.2 Pupils must follow all reasonable instructions given by Music Service staff, tutors, conductors and group leaders.

5.3 Continued participation in Music Service activities is conditional upon compliance with the Young Person's Code of Conduct.

5.4 Serious or persistent breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in temporary or permanent withdrawal from Music Service activities.

6. Photography and Video Recording

6.1 Stockport Music Service may take photographs or video recordings during rehearsals, lessons, performances or other Music Service activities for publicity, promotional, educational or training purposes.

6.2 Images and recordings will only be taken within the normal context of Music Service activities and will be used in accordance with the permissions provided by the parent or carer and the Council's applicable policies.

7. Safeguarding

7.1 Stockport Music Service is committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people.

7.2 All staff undertake safeguarding training in accordance with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council requirements and follow the Council's safeguarding policies and procedures.

7.3 Parents, carers and pupils are encouraged to raise any safeguarding concerns or suggestions for improvement with the Music Service office.

Young Person's Code of Conduct

All pupils attending Stockport Music Service activities are expected to:

Listen carefully to teachers, conductors and group leaders, and follow instructions promptly.
Treat others with kindness, courtesy and respect.
Work cooperatively with fellow musicians and value everyone's contribution.
Wear suitable clothing and footwear for rehearsals and performances. Jewellery or clothing that may present a safety risk should not be worn.
Bring only items required for the activity and avoid bringing valuables or unnecessary personal belongings.
Treat instruments, equipment, music and facilities with care and respect.
Observe all health and safety instructions to help prevent accidents.
Notify the Music Service in advance whenever attendance is not possible.
Remain with their allocated group unless permission has been given by a member of staff to leave.
In the event of an emergency, remain calm, follow staff instructions and cooperate fully.
