Eddie the Penguin

"Eddie the Penguin Saves the World" is a fantastic environmental musical by Niki Davies and is one of several published by Out of the Ark Music. During lockdown this year, the Music Service invited schools to purchase the book and CD from the publisher, and to take part with their Year 2 classes. They prepared a series of seven lessons, which included videos for warm-ups and teaching the songs, as well as optional activities to use if schools so wished. As many of the children were home learning during this time, there were also ideas for homemade percussion too!

At the end of April, there was then a virtual event for the participating schools to come together online and perform the songs in a private event. This also included some videos of instrumental demonstrations to introduce the children to some of the instruments they can learn in KS2.
