welcome to stockport music service
Music is a wonderful part of all our lives, whether we simply listen, perform or create our own. Stockport Music Service works with partners within Stockport and across Greater Manchester to provide musical opportunities for all abilities, whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned performer. Feel free to have a look around our site to see what we do and how we can help you to enjoy your music making.
Since 1976, Stockport Music Service has provided weekly rehearsals for choirs and instrumental groups during term time along with regular performances throughout the year, which can be accessed by all children and young people across Stockport and the surrounding areas. Although we're proud of our heritage, we also don't intend to stand still, and new groups and opportunities such as music production and electric strings have been added to our musical offer.
Want to join a Brass band? String orchestra? Wind orchestra? Rock band? Musical theatre and singing? Whatever your instrument or musical tastes, take a look at our Ensembles page if you're interested in joining in. New players are always welcome, whether you receive your tuition from the music service or not.
If you're looking for lessons, head to the Lessons page. In addition to the lessons taking place in schools, we have pupils from the ages of 5 to 80 coming to the music centre for tuition in a fun and relaxed environment.
Our instrumentalists and singers have regularly performed in local churches, Stockport Town Hall, the Royal Northern College of Music and further afield, including Symphony Hall in Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall in London. 2019 saw a tour to our twin town of Heilbronn in Germany and we're excited for our return visit in 2024!
As a proud partner of the Greater Manchester Music Hub, we work closely with our neighbours to give opportunities to our most advanced players and singers and we hope you find something of interest.
